This is a crucial election and your active participation can make a difference. In this workshop you will learn how to move someone who is unsure about voting—or undecided about who to vote for—by listening and sharing your experience.
Completing the workshop will leave you ready to canvass your neighbors on a local issue or be able to win your apathetic friend or cousins over to voting.
The workshop is being led by Olivia Chow, founder of the Institute for Change Leaders, and presented in partnership with the Broadbent Institute. Certificates will be presented to participants.

Why is canvassing important?
Canvassing is the most powerful tool a campaign has.
Face-to-face contact, and specifically neighbour-to-neighbour contact, is the most effective form of direct outreach. Contact at the door by somebody from the community can have twice the impact of contact through the phones or contact from an outsider.
Successful grassroots campaigns depend upon the ability to share a campaign’s message through face-to-face discussion with members of the community, and with neighbours talking to neighbours. This is one of the most valuable ways to collect data and persuade people to join the campaign.
About the Instructor
Olivia Chow is the Executive Director of the Institute for Change Leaders and has helped trained thousands of activists in political organizing. For over thirty years, Olivia has been an effective and well-known public figure, serving in Toronto’s municipal politics and on the national stage as a Canadian Member of Parliament. She was voted Best City Councillor seven times by readers of NOW magazine and Best MP in 2010.
